Uber hires lobbyist to advocate on HIPAA

The technology company Uber recruited a lobbyist to champion HIPAA as it relates to ridesharing, according to a Senate lobbying disclosure form and reported by Politico Morning eHealth.

Uber hired healthcare privacy lawyer Ann Waldo in September, according to the form. Ms. Waldo will lobby on behalf of Uber for issues related to "HIPAA and healthcare policy re: transportation, ridesharing and innovation; Business Associates; compliance matters," the form reads.

In the past, the company has partnered with hospitals as a way to help patients get to and from appointments, Politico reports.
