Touchstone Medical Imaging reports data breach

Listen

Touchstone Medical Imaging in Brentwood, Tenn., is notifying patients some billing information may have temporarily been available on the Internet.

In May, the company discovered a folder with information from radiology procedures performed prior to August 2012 was accessible online. Touchstone initially believed the information in the folder was not able to be read by outside parties. On Sept. 5, the company received new information that suggested the information in the folder, including names, dates of birth, diagnoses, procedures and some Social Security numbers, were in fact readable.

Touchstone does not believe any of the information has been misused, but is notifying patients out of caution.
