AMiON and Shift Admin are two of the top vendors for automated physician scheduling, according to a KLAS Research report.
For the report, the health IT research firm interviewed more than 200 respondents — including C-suite executives, directors and physician leaders — from various hospitals and clinics about their experiences with physician scheduling tools.
Physicians and healthcare executives often look for tools that offer automated solutions to streamline the scheduling process. However, these automated features are sometimes inaccurate or difficult to use.
"Despite vendor promises of simple, fully automated physician scheduling, true automation is often complicated and only as effective as the users who create the rules to support it," the report reads.
Here are five popular physician scheduling vendors, ranked by the accuracy and quality of their automated solutions. The vendors were scored on a scale of one to nine.

KLAS Research highlighted that although AMiON's physician scheduling tool lacks some of the scheduling algorithms offered by other vendors, its customers voiced satisfaction with its simple web viewer and templates. Respondents also appreciated Shift Admin's customer service and support features for scheduling automation.
The report also provided data on three other vendors: Kronos (7.8), Intrigma (7.7) and Cerner (6.7). However, KLAS Research noted the limited number of respondents using these products in its sample hindered the firm from generalizing these findings.
