Top 10 cybercrimes reported to FBI

The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center received 298,728 complaints in 2016, totaling more than $1.3 billion in reported losses, according to an IC3 report.

IC3 offers a public reporting mechanism for individuals to submit information regarding cybercrime to the FBI. Each year, IC3 analyzes the data and produces a report identifying trends on internet-facilitated crimes.

Here are the top 10 cybercrimes reported to the FBI, based on the "2016 Internet Crime Report."

1. Non-payment/non-delivery: 81,029 victims

2. Personal data breach: 27,573 victims

3. Payment scams: 25,716 victims

4. Phishing/vishing/smishing/pharming: 19,465 victims

5. Employment: 17,387 victims

6. Extortion: 17,146 victims

7. Identity theft: 16,878 victims

8. Harassment/threats of violence: 16,385 victims

9. Credit card fraud: 15,895 victims

10. Advanced fee: 15,075 victims
