One Seattle-based startup is hoping to make entering patient data into an EHR system much easier for physicians, reports CNBC.
Health technology company Saykara is building an artificial intelligence-powered voice scribe with the goal of becoming Amazon Alexa for hospitals. Developed by a group of former Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Nuance employees, its solution uses voice recognition and machine learning to transcribe physician voice data and simplify EHR entries.
It took several years of developing the technology — and $2.5 million in seed funding led by Madrona Venture Group — but Saykara finally launched its iOS app Monday, according to GeekWire.
"Thus far the reception has been tremendous," reads a statement on Madrona's website. "Physicians love it because they can interact with patients in the natural way they always have, without using special equipment, typing or after-hours dictation. Patients love it because they actually hear what and when the physician is capturing in their medical record.."
