These two video games may be the next FDA-approved treatment for ‘lazy eye’

Ubisoft, a French video game developer, and Amblyotech, an Atlanta-based digital media therapy company, developed a pair of video games intended to treat patients with amblyopia, or “lazy eye,” reports Gamasutra.

Amblyotech’s Amblyopad device contains two games developed by Ubisoft that harness binocular technology to improve visual acuity in people with amblyopia.

Amblyopia is usually treated by wearing an eye patch over the more dominant eye to strengthen muscles in the weaker lazy eye, according to the report.

The companies are seeking approval from the Food and Drug Administration to use the device and video games as an alternative treatment method for amblyopia.
