The American Health Information Management Association gave its Grace Award to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, based in Columbus. The Grace Award honors healthcare organizations that "demonstrate outstanding and innovative approaches to using health information management," according to the press release.

The award evaluation criteria includes how organizations support AHIMA's 2014-2017 strategic plan by integrating health information management throughout their organization and using it to analyze health data, grow information governance and contribute to innovation.

"The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is an exemplary organization that is effectively using health information to improve patient care," said AHIMA CEO Lynne Thomas Gordon in a statement. "In numerous initiatives, their HIM professionals are leading the way to getting the right information to the right place at the right time. AHIMA is pleased to honor them with this year’s Grace Award."

AHIMA also recognized Arlington-based Texas Health Resources with an honorable mention for advancing the use of analytics to improve patient care. Last year, Minneapolis-based Allina Health won the Grace Award.
