Greater Houston Healthconnect, the area’s local health information exchange, announced that 25 health institutions and clinics have contracted to participate in its system, expanding the HIE that is projected to include 14,000 physicians and 130 hospitals, according to a Cypress Creek Mirror report.
The health information exchange network aims at facilitating better care coordination among providers, reducing duplicate procedures and enhancing safety. The network is projected to ultimately serve 7 million people, according to the report.
