Survey: Telemedicine is most useful in these 10 specialties

Telemedicine can provide many benefits to patients and providers across the continuum of care, but a recent survey from American Well ranked the specialties in which physicians find video consults the most valuable.

American Well, a provider of telemedicine services, conducted the survey in collaboration with QuantiaMD. They gathered responses from more than 2,000 primary care physicians regarding their perceptions of video consultations.

Here are the 10 specialty video consults physicians find most valuable. Respondents could select more than one answer.

1. Dermatology: 76 percent

2. Psychiatry: 54 percent

3. Infectious disease: 46 percent

4. Pain management: 37 percent

5. Neurology: 36 percent

6. Cardiology: 34 percent

7. Rheumatology: 32 percent

8. Gastroenterology: 24 percent

9. Sports medicine: 18 percent

10. Oncology: 17 percent
