Jessica Kim Cohen -

Healthcare consumers are warming up to the idea of technology taking on a routine part of patient care, according to a West Monroe report.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. At present, the most common digital channel for patients to communicate with their healthcare provider is email, followed by communication through a website.

2. One-third of healthcare consumers have used a healthcare mobile app to communicate with their provider.

3. A total of 91 percent of consumers report using a healthcare mobile app to communicate with their provider, if one is offered.

4. Of those who have communicated with their provider via mobile app in the past, 80 percent prefer this method over a traditional office visit.

5. A total of 86 percent of healthcare consumers who have access to an online portal use them to communicate with their provider.
