Startup Develops App That Helps Physicians Fill Last-Minute Appointments

Ayla Ellison -

Baltimore-based Everseat has developed an app to help healthcare providers fills last-minute appointment openings and ultimately save money, according to a Baltimore Business Journal report.

When patients call the practices of some of the best providers, they often have to wait three to six weeks to get an appointment, said Jeff Peres, Everseat CEO, in the report. However, all providers have last-minute cancelations, he says, that could easily be filled by a patient otherwise facing a long wait for an appointment. "The concept of our app is to let these service providers efficiently push out the availability of that open appointment."

When a patient cancels an appointment at the last minute, healthcare providers can use the new app to post the open appointment and app users can book it.

The app users seeking appointments will be able to use the service free of charge, and physicians will be charged a fee for listing their appointments. Everseat physician membership will start at $39 a month, according to the report.

The app is set to launch June 1 in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. It has raised $800,000 in angel funding.
