SnapMD's revamped virtual care app includes new video chat capabilities, customizable intake forms

SnapMD has begun rolling out a new version of its smartphone app, which enables healthcare providers to add telemedicine services to their offerings, the Glendale, Calif.-based startup announced July 8.

The 2.0 version of the Virtual Care Management app offers embeddable text and video chat modules. During video visits, patients and clinicians can swap their camera feeds, change the layout, take and share snapshots during the live video feed and join digital exam room sessions with up to six participants. Patients can also text chat while in the virtual waiting and exam rooms.

Additionally, the relaunched VCM app offers expanded branding options, the ability to customize app policies and procedures to align with a provider's legal requirements and an administrative tool allowing providers to tailor intake forms to include specific information about medication use, specialty care needs, insurance and more. Providers can add the features to their own existing apps, or use the new software development kit to build an entirely new app based on SnapMD's functionalities.
