Silicon Valley pays Hillary Clinton big bucks for speaking fees last year

Since January 2014, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has made approximately $11.7 million in speaking fees, $3.2 million of which came from the technology industry, according to a Washington Post analysis of disclosures from the Clintons.

According to the Washington Post, the tech sector was the biggest single source of Ms. Clinton's speaking fees, with such engagements including companies like eBay, Xerox, Cisco Systems, Qualcomm and Salesforce.com

eBay paid Ms. Clinton $315,000 to speak at its summit promoting women in the workplace, and Salesforce.com paid her $451,000 for two talks last year. Qualcomm offered $335,000 to Ms. Clinton to speak and Cisco paid $325,000.

According to the Washington Post, Silicon Valley is an attractive and lucrative market for candidates seeking political donations, due to the tech sector's recent growth.

Ms. Clinton and her husband and former president Bill Clinton have earned a joint speaking fee sum of approximately $25 million since January 2014 for 104 speeches, according to the report.
