Chicago-based Rush University Medical Center implemented Code's mobile barcode soft-scanning technology for use with its Epic Rover application.

Code's CortexDecoder is a soft-scanning solution that uses only the camera on an iOS device. It can scan 40-plus different types of barcodes.

Rush integrated CortexDecoder into the Epic Rover, an app that enables authorized clinical users of the Epic EHR to access clinical tools, such as patient list management, medication administration and vitals, directly on their smartphones.

Rush caregivers will be able to use the CortexDecoder technology to scan patient wristbands and access medical records as well as scan and verify medications.

Rush University Medical Center is the first health system in the world to use the CortexDecoder technology.
