The breach occurred after the clinic reported stolen equipment to the River Falls police in summer 2012.
The suspected thief was employed by an outside cleaning company and allegedly stole paper documents containing patient information that was intended to be shredded. The documents contained information such as patients’ first and last names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers, and were returned to the clinic.
A plea hearing for the case is set for Feb. 25 at the Pierce County Courthouse, according to the report.
