Precision medicine startup Tempus snags Mount Sinai, FDA alums

Andrea Park -

Tempus, a Chicago-based biotech startup building a massive library of clinical and molecular data and an accompanying machine learning-powered analytics platform, has recently poached leaders from leading healthcare institutions, STAT reports.

Earlier this month, Tempus announced the appointment of Lauren Silvis as senior vice president of external affairs. Ms. Silvis joins the startup from the FDA, where she served most recently as chief of staff to former Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, MD. At Tempus, she will oversee regulatory, public policy and government affairs.

Additionally, in late August, the company hired Joel Dudley, PhD, as senior vice president of research. Prior to this, Dr. Dudley was the executive vice president for precision health at New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System, where he led the creation of the Precision Health Enterprise. In his new role, Dr. Dudley will continue to advance precision health research and development, focusing specifically on non-oncology disease types.
