The increased emphasis on population health management has spurred many hospitals to adopt remote patient monitoring solutions, with as many as 66 percent of hospitals and health systems indicating they have deployed such techniques, according to a new report from Spyglass Consulting Group.

The report, called "Trends in Remote Patient Monitoring 2015," found hospitals have deployed RPM solutions to manage value-based risk associated with supporting large populations with complex chronic conditions, such as congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes and hypertension.

Here are three more findings from the report.

Spyglass Consulting Group derived its findings from more than 100 in-depth interviews with healthcare organizations involved in telehealth and telemedicine over a two-month period beginning in May 2015. Providers included multi-hospital delivery systems, standalone community hospitals, ambulatory centers, home health agencies and government organizations.
