Outcome Health cuts 20 additional jobs: 4 things to know

Alia Paavola -

Chicago-based Outcome Health laid off 20 additional employees in February, after already letting go of nearly half its staff in late 2017, reports the Chicago Business Journal.

Here are four things to know.

1. The recent layoffs affected at least six sales representatives responsible for contacting physician offices to seek permission to install flat screens and tablets at no cost. These screens display patient targeted videos, including educational content and pharmaceutical advertisements.

2. In October, The Wall Street Journal reported Outcome manipulated pricing and sales information to mislead pharmaceutical advertisers. As a result of this report, Outcome's sales team has been nearly gutted, according to the Business Journal report.

3. In November, 200 Outcome employees accepted buyouts after the news surfaced. The company also let go of 75 employees in September.

4. The company declined to comment on the reasons behind the recent layoffs. However, they told the Chicago Business Journal:

"We continue to recruit and hire exceptional people to fill positions that are critical to our customers' needs, future growth and improving patient outcomes. This process also includes making difficult decisions about areas where we may have redundancies or staffing levels that do not match our priority areas."
