Peoria, Ill.-based OSF Healthcare introduced a new corporate investment arm that will financially support companies to develop technologies to improve patient outcomes.

The investment arm is called OSF Ventures, and it will invest in up to eight companies a year. So far, the investment arm has pledged support to four companies: Dallas-based Pieces Technologies, Salt Lake City-based Health Catalyst, St. Louis-based Pulse Therapeutics and Chicago-based AVIA.

"This venture program gives OSF earlier access to viable solutions beneficial to the industry," said Kevin Schoeplein, CEO of OSF Healthcare. "The investment strategy solidifies our commitment to innovation in the healthcare space."
