OSF HealthCare joins funding for precision medicine software startup InsightRX

InsightRX, a San Francisco startup developing a cloud-based medication dosing platform, announced Sept. 20 the close of a $10 million Series A funding round, with participation from Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare.

The round was led by HealthX Ventures, a Madison, Wis.-based, digital health-focused investment firm. InsightRX will use the funding to expand its reach, in terms of both therapeutic areas and hospital and pharmaceutical clients. Current hospital partners include Memphis, Tenn.-based St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Children's Hospital Los Angeles and OSF HealthCare.

The InsightRX Nova platform is integrated into a hospital's EHR system and uses patient data, quantitative pharmacology models and statistical forecasting to help clinicians individualize dosing regimens at the point of care. It is currently able to guide treatment in more than 100 drug and therapeutic areas, such as oncology and infectious disease.

OSF HealthCare has steadily increased its venture footprint as of late. Its corporate investment arm, OSF Ventures, launched a second $75 million venture capital fund in July, at which time the health system was in the process of finalizing the 16th investment in its portfolio of startups developing new technology, devices and services to improve healthcare.
