Mark Hurd, co-CEO of software company Oracle, passed away Oct. 18 , according to CNBC.
Mr. Hurd, 62, was appointed co-CEO of Oracle alongside Safra Cruz in September 2014.
The software giant providers cloud computing services to healthcare organizations including Cleveland Clinic and UW Health in Madison, Wis.
Mr. Hurd had taken a leave of absence from Oracle in September due to unspecified health reasons, according to the report.
Prior to joining Oracle, Mr. Hurd served as CEO at Hewlett Packard from 2005 to2010. During his tenure, Mr. Hurd dealt with various controversies at HP, including a 2006 scandal that revolved around HP leaking private information to the media. Mr. Hurd testified before a congressional committee as a result, and HP agreed to pay $14.5 million in a settlement with California's attorney general, CNBC reports.
Mr. Hurd joined Oracle in 2010 as president after resigning from HP.
