Mark Hurd, co-CEO of Oracle Corp., shared his thoughts on the future of IT at Oracle's CloudWorld conference in New York City earlier this month, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Mr. Hurd suggested that 80 percent of corporate data centers will disappear by 2025, as production applications increasingly move onto the cloud. The cloud, he said, will be more secure than other IT environments, and will also help IT professionals cut down on maintenance and labor costs. At present, about 80 percent of the global IT budget goes to maintenance, rather than innovation, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Mr. Hurd also hypothesized that all development and testing will occur in the cloud by 2025, according to The Wall Street Journal.
