The survey gathered responses from more than 700 IT and business professionals in the country, 300 of which were from the healthcare industry.
Amongst all industries, healthcare organizations reported the highest percentage of having security and compliance policies in place for transferring sensitive information, at 97 percent compared to 90 percent for all other industries.
However, 36 percent of healthcare respondents said security and compliance policies are “at most only moderately enforced,” and 73 percent said employees or co-workers “occasionally or routinely violate these policies.” While unsettling, these numbers are still lower than those of other industries, which collectively reported 50 percent of policies are either rarely or moderately enforced and 81 percent said employees violate the policies.
