In an effort to improve strategy and boost focus on certain functions, the ONC has shifted some of its leadership functions and responsibilities.
According to an internal memo from National Coordinator Karen DeSalvo, MD, who also is HHS' acting assistant secretary for health, Chartése Day has joined the Office of the COO as an office director and will provide senior leadership and direction for the ONC ethics program. Ms. Day previously was the director of the Office of Public Affairs and Communications at the ONC.
In this new position, Ms. Day will also oversee functions of the executive secretariat and Freedom of Information Act request functions.
Additionally, Megan Roh has joined the ONC's Office of Public Affairs and Communication as the new director, effective March 14. Ms. Roh has served as deputy communications director of Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) since January 2015.
"As ONC continues to advance health IT policy and innovation, our external visibility and policy coordination has increased," Dr. DeSalvo wrote in the memo. "To ensure continued efficiency and effectiveness, I am excited to announce new staff and the transition of a few ONC functions to enable us to execute even better on our communications strategy and bring more focus to other priority functions."
