Capt. Alicia Morton, DNP, RN, director of the Health IT Certification Program at ONC, has been appointed commissioner ex officio at the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission through 2020.
The ENHAC is a nonprofit standards development group that accredits organizations that electronically exchange healthcare data. Its commission is comprised of healthcare industry leaders, including stakeholders and consumer representatives from the public and private sectors.
Dr. Morton joined the ONC in 2005 to head up the contract of the first voluntary EHR certification program. She has held a number of roles within the agency, including deputy CMO alongside Jacob Reider, MD, and senior advisor to the Office of Standards & Technology. Before joining ONC, she held roles at CMS, played an integral part in the Vista Office EHR project, worked at the National Institutes of Health and served on active duty in the U.S. Navy.
