NFL Players Association taps Whoop wearable for recovery monitoring

The NFL Players Association on April 24 named Whoop, developer of the Whoop Strap 2.0 performance monitoring device, its official licensed recovery wearable.

Whoop represents the first company to partner with the NFL Players Association through OneTeam Collective — the association's new innovation accelerator. Under the agreement, all NFL players will receive a Whoop Strap 2.0 arm wearable, which monitors energy exertion, recovery and sleep.

Through the Whoop mobile and web app, NFL players will gain access to actionable insights based on their performance data. The NFL Players Association and Whoop will also study the effects of travel, sleep and injuries on player recovery to develop better safety standards.

NFL players will have the option to commercialize their individual Whoop data through the NFL Players Association's group licensing program.
