NextGxDx expands with new offering, 1st insurer client: 4 things to know

Kelly Gooch -

Healthcare technology company NextGxDx has launched a new offering aimed at supporting health insurance companies in the rapidly growing genetic testing field.

Here are four things to know about the new offering.

1. NextGxDx, through its GenePayer solution, will provide health insurers with genetic test claims analysis and market intelligence, in an effort to inform policy development and bring transparency to genetic testing reimbursement, according to a news release.

2. GenePayer matches raw claims to genetic testing products and categorizes them into clinically relevant groups. NextGxDx said this analysis allows the company to provide health insurers with insights into areas such as variation in pricing and payments, inaccurate claims and gaps in medical policies.

3. GenePayer's effectiveness has been proven through pilot programs with several national health insurance companies, and the company recently contracted with a top national health insurer to provide the GenePayer suite of solutions, according to NextGxDx. The company has not disclosed the name of the insurer.

4. "Our goal is to make the genetic testing market more efficient by bringing value to every player — laboratories, healthcare providers and health insurers — and improving the connections between them," Mark Harris, PhD, CEO of NextGxDx, said in a prepared statement.
