Nearly half of consumers have not heard of telemedicine

Staff -

There are several companies providing telemedicine, and payers are increasingly reimbursing for the digital health service, but consumer awareness still lags.

A HealthMine survey of 1,200 people found that 41 percent consumers have never heard of telemedicine. Of those responding the survey, 45 percent would be willing to use telemedicine.

Age is key factor in whether a consumer would be willing to try the service. More than half of consumers ages 25 to 34, 58 percent, would try the service. The percentage of consumers willing to use telemedicine decreased with each age bracket. Forty-four percent of consumers ages 35 to 44 would try the service and 41 percent of consumers ages 45 to 54 would do the same. Just 37 percent of consumers ages 55 to 64 would use telemedicine.
