Navy Medicine grants Accenture $79M for EHR, virtual health and informatics support

Jackie Drees -

U.S. Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery is granting $79 million to Accenture, a digital and technology services company, to help drive improvements in health informatics, virtual health and artificial intelligence initiatives.

Under the five-year contract, which began July 3, Accenture Federal Services, Accenture's government-focused subsidiary, will help Navy Medicine use data decision making to enhance its initiatives in health information technology, patient care and healthcare operations.

Navy Medicine has already requested five task orders of AFS in support of EHR modernization and virtual healthcare support to the Fleet Marine Force, Fleet and Reserve Components. AFS will leverage its private-sector healthcare experience to help Navy Medicine implement technology-driven care models that are more data driven, patient centric and cost efficient.
