Movers and shakers: 11 latest leadership changes affecting health IT

Becker's Hospital Review reported the following health IT executive moves affecting hospitals, companies and federal agencies during the past month:

1. Google Cloud hired Amit Zavery, former vice president of Oracle's cloud platform, to run one of its engineering teams.

2. ValueHealth, a privately held, nationally trusted surgical healthcare partner, hired Jennifer Duke as president of market development.

3. FDA Principal Deputy Commissioner Amy Abernethy, MD, PhD, has reportedly been appointed as the agency's new acting CIO.

4. The U.S. Department of State appointed former Johnson & Johnson executive Stuart McGuigan permanent CIO.

5. Microsoft Healthcare welcomed Gregory Moore, MD, PhD, as corporate vice president of health technology and alliances, according to a company blog post.

6. Little Rock, Ark.-based Baptist Health named Doug Weeks executive vice president of strategy and innovation, a newly created position.

7. Broomfield, Colo.-based SCL Health selected Craig Richardville to serve as CIO.

8. Huntington, W.Va.-based Mountain Health Network named Dennis Lee CIO.

9. University Medical Center of El Paso (Texas) selected Ray Davis to serve as CIO.

10. Dallas-based Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation appointed Leslie Wainwright, PhD, chief funding and innovation officer.

11. One of Google’s top artificial intelligence employees, Ian Goodfellow, left the company to join Apple.
