Montana community health centers receive $520K for health IT operations

HHS will grant $520,000 to community health centers across Montana to help with costs of health information technologies such as EHRs and telehealth services, Great Falls Tribune reports.

Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., introduced legislation that supports annual increases in funding for community health centers over the next five years, according to the report. The Community Health Investment, Modernization and Excellence Act aims to preserve funding for rural healthcare communities, similar to the Community Health Center Fund that ended in September 2017 and lapsed until February 2018.

Montana comprises more than 60 community health center sites, which serve more than 100,000 patients annually.

"These resources mean that folks across the state will continue to have access to the critical, affordable healthcare they need and deserve," Mr. Tester said, according to the report.
