Mobile health provides patients information, but do they know what to do with it?

In a recent blog post, Spok's Senior Product Manager for Mobile qualifies with the Wall Street Journal Article "The Future is in Your Smartphone."

In the post, Jim Cikanek, Senior Product Manager - Mobile, agrees that medicine is the next industry to be changed by smartphones -- to an extent.

While Dr. Eric Topol, the author of the Wall Street Journal article, goes on to say patients can be empowered with more health information in their hands, Cikanek thinks otherwise.

Cikanek notes, "You can measure your blood-oxygen and glucose levels, blood pressure, and heart rhythm with your smartphone and the appropriate attachemnts, but for the average person, little meaning is gleaned from these metrics."

Cikanek argues that it's important to give these tools to doctors more, as it allows them to better access information and deliver the best care.
