Microsoft has made a machine learning service generally available on its cloud computing platform Azure, VentureBeat reports.
Here are three things to know about the release:
1. Azure Machine Learning is a cloud platform that allows developers to build, train and deploy artificial intelligence models. Machine learning is a type of AI in which a computer learns over time, rather than having to be programmed like typical software.
2. The machine learning service, which helps developers create AI models using various automated features, is now available to all Azure customers, following a relatively lengthy preview period, according to VentureBeat. The service's features include support for AI frameworks, such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
"We've received a lot of positive feedback from customers who've been using Azure Machine Learning," Eric Boyd, corporate vice president at Microsoft, told VentureBeat. "It's helping them to get their work done more quickly and efficiently than before … [because] it doesn't require you to be a data scientist to use it."
3. Microsoft also unveiled a new Azure Machine Learning feature that is available in preview mode. The feature offers developers "model explainability," or a view into which types of data are weighted the heaviest on a machine learning model's predictions.
