Mercy to Offer Hosted Epic EHR Solution, Consulting Services

Staff -

The health IT division of Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy, Mercy Technology Services, will begin using its Epic experience and expertise as the first accredited provider of the new Epic Connect service.

Through the Epic Connect program, Mercy will provide implementation, application management and hosting of Mercy's Epic electronic health record system in a software-as-a-service model, as well as consulting services.

The health system believes the program will allow other organizations to have an optimized EHR while minimizing infrastructure costs. "What's unique about Mercy's system is the years we have spent optimizing it for performance in the real world," said Gil Hoffman, CIO of Mercy Technology Services, in a news release. "Mercy Technology Services put in 600 optimizations last year alone. Clients benefit from our advanced clinical workflows, unique order sets, hundreds of custom developed reports and the real standout — the 20-plus built-in care pathways to support evidence-based clinical decisions."

While Mercy is the first Epic-accredited provider, other organizations have begun offering similar services. Last month, Cleveland Clinic announced a partnership with Dell to offer consulting, implementation and hosting services for healthcare providers looking to run an Epic EHR system based on the system run at the Cleveland Clinic.
