MedStar Health, a Columbia, Md.-based health system, has surpassed its one thousandth physician visit on its telehealth service.

MedStar Health's technology partner for the service is American Well. The telehealth service, called MedStar eVisit, initially launched as a pilot program for employees. It was expanded to the general public in October 2016.

To access a MedStar eVisit, patients pay $49, which qualifies as a reimbursable healthcare spending account expense. The cost is reimbursable through certain health insurance plans.
