McKesson is planning on expanding employee numbers at its 340,000-square-foot distribution center in Clear Lake, Iowa, according to the Globe Gazette.

The distribution center, which opened in May 2016, has 120 employees, but it plans to increase that number to 220 over the course of the next few months.

It serves roughly 2,500 pharmacies throughout the Midwest and north central plains, according to Chris Van Norman, the Clear Lake center's director of operations.

"We brought more business in here than we originally anticipated," Mr. Van Norman said, according to the Globe Gazette. "Everything's gone so smoothly. It's been the most successful launch McKesson's ever had. In every metric."

On Aug. 3, Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R) — who was partially responsible for recruiting McKesson to Clear Lake — visited the distribution center, according to The Courier. "They're a great company with a real commitment to health," he said, according to the report. "This facility is replacing three others in other states, and we're proud that the jobs are here in ClearLake."
