Livongo wins contract as benefits provider for federal employees

Andrea Park -

Livongo, a Mountain View, Calif.-based digital health platform for chronic disease management, signed an agreement to provide its diabetes management program to eligible members of the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program.

The Livongo for Diabetes platform will be made available to the millions of plan members beginning on Jan. 1, 2020. Approximately 25,000 members are expected to join the program in 2020, with the tally estimated to grow to 45,000 members the following year.

"This win highlights two of our competitive advantages. First, government entities and large plans want to see multiyear, clinically validated results at scale, and only Livongo has that independently validated data," Jennifer Schneider, MD, president of Livongo, said in a release.

"Second, our AI+AI engine, which aggregates information from our own devices, electronic health records, pharmacy records, smart watches and continuous glucose monitors, interprets that information, applies it back to our members to learn what works, and then iterates using Health Nudges, is making us smarter and more member-focused every day," Dr. Schneider said.
