LinkedIn ranked 2017's top 50 startups, here are 11 companies for health executives to know

LinkedIn released its first list of the 50 most in-demand startup companies in the U.S.

The professional social networking website gathered data on companies that were 10 years old or younger, have at least 100 employees, remain independent and privately held, and have at least one round of venture-backed funding. LinkedIn used data from CB Insights to pull a list of nearly 25,000 eligible companies.

While ride-sharing startup Uber took first place, the list features a number of innovative companies preparing to disrupt the healthcare industry.

Here are 11 startups from LinkedIn's top 50 that health executives should know, listed in alphabetical order.

1. Aryaka Networks. A software-defined wide area network provider, Aryaka Networks, is disrupting the telecommunications industry by offering a networking option free of hardware with a pay-as-you-use model.

2. CrowdStrike. The first firm to identify Russia as the culprit in the Democratic National Committee email hack before the 2016 election, CrowdStrike is a cybersecurity startup valued at $1.01 billion.

3. Cybereason. Cybereason's endpoint detection platform finds attackers' vulnerabilities after they've launched an attack on an organization to more quickly stop the threat.

4. Cylance. Cybersecurity firm Cylance offers an antivirus platform that uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to proactively protect organizations.

5. Databricks. Databricks is working to create a unifying analytics platform across engineering teams, data scientists and business partners to open up big data research.

6. Darktrace. Darktrace is a cybersecurity firm that uses AI and machine learning to proactively defend enterprise networks.

7. Duo Security.  Duo Security is a cybersecurity firm that provides two-factor authentication and secure single sign-on to a diverse array of clients.

8. Grail. Grail is a biotechnology company that aims to detect cancer earlier. Working with geneticists and biostatisticians, the company rolled out one of the largest clinical research programs in genomic health, and its studies continue to enroll more than 130,000 participants.

9. Rubrik. Rubrik is a computer software company that delivers instant application availability to hybrid cloud enterprises. It helps customers mobilize applications, automate protection policies, combat ransomware, and search and analyze application data at scale.

10. Snowflake Computing. Snowflake computing offers a pay-as-you-go data warehouse on the cloud, serving clients like Adobe, Capital One and Sony Pictures.

11. Uptake. Uptake is a predictive analytics company that analyzes sensor data to improve organizations' productivity.
