Laura McCrary, EdD, executive director of KHIN, said the network’s initial goal was to reach 400 by the end of 2011, according to the release. Dr. McCrary said the HIE’s secure clinical communications is one of the top benefits of the initiative and is responsible in large part for its high success.
KHIN includes 160 hospitals, more than 7,500 physicians, the Kansas Medical Society, Kansas Hospital Association, Wichita Health Information Exchange and Kansas Immunization Registry.
