Inovalon to acquire Avalere for $140M

Staff -

Cloud-based analytics provider Inovalon has entered a definitive agreement with pharmaceutical-based business intelligence solutions provider Avalere. The purchase price is $140 million.

Adding Avalere's 200 pharmaceutical and life sciences clients is expected to boost Inovalon's presence in the healthcare marketplace and pharmaceutical market.

The transaction is expected to close around Sept. 1, pending customary closing conditions and antitrust clearance.

Avalere CEO Dan Mendelson will join Inovalon's executive leadership team, overseeing and leading the daily operations of Avalere's core business.

"Data is transforming healthcare, and life sciences companies in particular need better information and analytics to drive commercial and strategic decisions," Mr. Mendelson said. "Our combination with Inovalon will enable us to bring unique data-based solutions to the market while expanding on our outstanding core products and services. This is an exciting time within the healthcare industry, our clients, and our companies."
