Infosys plans to create 2k tech jobs in North Carolina by 2021

Julie Spitzer -

As part of its national commitment to boost technology innovation in America, Infosys, a global consulting and technology services company, will open a technology and innovation hub in North Carolina, creating 2,000 local technology jobs.

The North Carolina hub is the second of four technology and innovation hubs Infosys committed to in May, as part of its strategy to drive American innovation and hire 10,000 American technology workers. The first hub will open in Indiana.

The Infosys hubs will focus on technological areas like artificial intelligence, cloud computing and big data.

The company plans to hire the first 500 of 2,000 workers in North Carolina within two years. Infosys will hire the remainder by 2021. The company will recruit local professionals and recent graduates from the state's colleges and universities.

Infosys will also partner with the North Carolina community college system to create a workforce training program, which the state has contributed a $3 million grant towards.

"North Carolina's central role in technology innovation makes our state a perfect fit for Infosys," said North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper. "Our world-class universities and our high-tech workers drive growth and attract companies from around the world that are looking to innovate."
