Patient records belonging to a medical lab in Crown Point, Ind., were found in the dumpster of a nearby strip mall, according to an NWI Times report.
An employee of a local restaurant noticed the records in the dumpster and notified The Times Media Co., which then notified the Indiana attorney general's office, according to the report.
The paper records belonged to My Fast Lab, a medical testing business that is no longer operating. Exposed patient data includes names, addresses, phone numbers, blood types, credit card numbers, copies of Social Security cards, driver's licenses and health insurance cards, according to the report.
Approximately 170 records were found in the dumpster, according to the report.
