The night before a meeting with President-elect Donald Trump, IBM CEO Ginni Rometty said her company will hire 25,000 U.S. workers and invest $1 billion in the U.S. economy, according to Bloomberg.

Mr. Trump is hosting an exclusive summit today for the nation's technology leaders, including Ms. Rometty, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Alphabet CEO Larry Page, among others.

"We are hiring because the nature of work is evolving," Ms. Rometty wrote in an op-ed in USA Today. "What matters most is that these employees — with jobs such as cloud computing technicians and services delivery specialists — have relevant skills, often obtained through vocational training."

In a Nov. 6 speech, Mr. Trump critiqued IBM for moving 500 jobs from its Minneapolis office to India and other countries overseas.
