IBM CEO Ginni Rometty recently published an open letter to President-elect Donald Trump, highlighting her advice and thoughts on his proposals, according to The Wall Street Journal.
In her letter, Ms. Rometty requested Mr. Trump use IT and data analytics to reduce healthcare costs. She added that he should work to give veterans the best possible healthcare.
Ms. Rometty said she supports a number of Mr. Trump's proposals, including his ideas about investments in public facilities, roads and bridges. She also supports Mr. Trump's call to end tax-code incentives for businesses to have their earnings from overseas units kept out of the U.S.
"Many billions of dollars of American companies' earnings do not come home because of an outdated and punitive tax system," Ms. Rometty wrote in the letter. Following through on the proposal would "free up capital that companies of all sizes can reinvest in their U.S. operations, training and education programs for their employees and research and development programs," according to the letter.
In a Nov. 6 speech, Mr. Trump critiqued IBM for moving 500 jobs from its Minneapolis office to India and other overseas countries.
