IBM elected Joseph R. Swedish and Frederick H. Waddell to its board of directors, effective immediately.
Mr. Swedish is the chairman, president and CEO of Anthem. He has more than two decades of experience as the CEO for numerous health systems. He assumed the president and CEO roles at Anthem in March 2013, and he began serving as chairman of Anthem's board in December 2015.
Mr. Waddell is the chairman and CEO of Northern Trust Corp., a financial services company. He has served in several leadership roles during his time at Northern Trust, including president and COO. He was named CEO in 2008 and board chairman in 2009.
The IBM board now includes 15 members.
