IBM extends blockchain use with another patent for mobile data sharing

Blockchain leader IBM was granted a patent for mobile data sharing through blockchain technology, according to documents from the Patent and Trademark Office and cited by the Cointelegraph.

In the patent filing, IBM proposes using a blockchain technology to verify information that has been shared between two devices. A blockchain-based platform would collect information and deliver it to computing nodes, Cointelegraph reports. A confirmation that the information collection and delivery occurred would be posted on the distributed ledger.

In short terms, the blockchain would be used to map information updates.

IBM has been increasing its blockchain presence in recent months. The company has filed and been awarded a long list of blockchain-related patents. Most recently, IMB added a new implementation to manage data for self-driving cars into its bank of blockchain patents.
