House Rules Committee budget mirrors Trump proposal to cut ONC funding in 2018

The House Committee on Rules released its spending bill for 2018 Aug. 16. The bill budgets roughly $38 million for the ONC, a 37 percent cut from the $60 million it received in 2017.

"For expenses necessary for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, including 10 grants, contracts and cooperative agreements for the development and advancement of interoperable health information technology, $38,381,000," the bill reads.

This proposed budget backs President Donald Trump's previous funding request for ONC, which was also $38 million for 2018.
