House democrat proposes bill to restore ONC funding

Julie Spitzer -

Rep. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., has introduced an amendment to reverse a proposed government spending bill's $22 million cuts to the ONC's budget for fiscal year 2018.

Ms. Rosen called the cuts bad policy in a June letter to House Appropriations Committee members Tom Cole, R-Okla., and Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., who head up the Labor subcommittee, according to the Politico Morning eHealth newsletter,.

"Wider adoption of health information systems and the proliferation of [EMRs] necessitates more policy guidance and support for innovation, not less. ... Now is not the time to slash spending in a core sector that will help make healthcare less expensive, more efficient and more effective," the letter reads, according to Politico.
