Lee Memorial Health System is spending $70 million to install a new EMR at two of its facilities, Lee Memorial Hospital and HealthPark Medical Center.
As two separate hospitals thought they would be eligible for $40 million in federal stimulus money to defray those costs, but under proposed federal rules for meting out the money, they would get just $30 million because they have the same provider number.
CMS said the final rules on funding are expected in May or June, but the health system is working through its congressman to try to change the wording.
