Hospitals Must Meet July 3 Deadline to Begin Medicare Meaningful Use Reporting for FY2012

Eligible hospitals have one more day to begin a 90-day reporting period to demonstrate meaningful use for Medicare's electronic health record incentive program for FY 2012, according to an AHA News Now report.

Hospitals attesting to meaningful use of EHRs for the first time this year must report on specific performance metrics for a 90-day period ending on or before Sept. 30, which is the last day of the federal fiscal year. Those hospitals that started the program last year need to report on metrics for a full year in FY 2012. However, hospitals do not have to attest for meaningful use for FY 2012 to benefit from the voluntary CMS program's incentives, according to the report.
